  • Personal Review About The Latest Winzip

WinZip software is a Windows file compression tool, which is most widely used in the world. Since WinZip product entered into Corel Company in May 2006, many editions in various languages have been issued and have won extensive popularity from the users universally. In August 2007, WinZip 11.2 won the "Best Application Award" of "People's Choice Award".

However, WinZip software is widely used in many industries, especially the industries, such as: bank, insurance, telecom, etc, and it is even used in military field; the reason of its popularity is that WinZip software has the functions of unique and strong file encryption and file security. The standard edition or professional edition of WinZip 11.2 is safer, more convenient and more powerful than any past edition. Many functions of the new WinZip are not available from other competitors.

The support to RAR and BZ2 file decompression has chiefly been added in new edition of WinZip11, and the compression method has been improved to automatically choose the suitable compression way to your files; moreover, the new edition has been boosted up compression capability of various file, especially wav audio file, while the function of previewing pictures in compression file has been added in new edition so that the user needn't firstly decompress the compressed files but browse the pictures by thumbnail method.

Detailed Explanation of WinZip 11.2 Several Major Functions: Compression Encryption. WinZip 11.2 is unique file compression software to achieve the function of 256-bit AES encryption, and wins the FIPS 197 authentication. AES is the "Advanced Encryption Standard" established by American government, which mainly used in the encryption of safe sensitive but non-confidential file. American Commerce Department stipulated "FIPS 197: Federal Information Process Standard" and specifically prescribed encryption standard in December 6, 2006. Currently, no other compression software in the market accord with this encryption standard.

WinZip 11.2 could delete the compressed, decompressed or mailing files in Windows temporary folders when it compresses and mails various files. Therefore, WinZip 11.2 could greatly ensure the safety of files and protect any malicious conduct of stealing the temporary files. To this day, other new editions of compression software could not provide this unique function.

WinZip could automatically choose the "best compression ratio". WinZip could help you to decide which advanced compression method you should choose if you use WinZip11.2.

From WinZip 10.0, WinZip in Zip format has began to support other additional and more powerful compression methods: PPMd and bzip2. This product is stronger but many users hope WinZip could automatically choose suitable compression method besides the original manual choice for compression method. Now the new edition WinZip11.2 could automatically choose the appropriate compression method for your compression files, which could build small compression archives by all means and help you to save the time of data transmission and increase the disk space.

The latest version 11.2, Winzip add unicode support for international characters used in filenames, integrated support to create and extract LHA archives. This feature is very useful. As one Powerful, fast, and easy-to-use Zip utility, the latest version winzip Microsoft Vista Support.

  • Windows Registry Repair Software - Why You Shouldn't Use It

If you want to know why you shouldn't use Windows registry repair software then you need to read this post. While there are good reasons to use registry repair software, this post will discuss the reasons you shouldn't use it, or the alternatives to using an automated fix.

    1. It Is Not A "Run Once" Solution

Doing a Windows registry repair will usually increase the performance of your PC. Freezes, sluggishness and intermittent errors can also be fixed. However, using this software once only will not contain the problem. The Windows registry is constantly changing as software is used, installed and removed; as printers and other devices are used and have driver information updated.

To completely free yourself of the performance and other issues you will need to set yourself some kind of reasonable schedule for scanning and repairing your registry. In the better software packages this process of scheduling can be automated.

    2. Trade Carefully Around Vista

As we all know by now, Windows Vista has many quirks and issues with software not specifically designed to be run with Vista. Before doing a Vista registry repair, ensure that the software you are using is 100% certified to be run with Vista.

The last thing you want to do is go from the frying pan into the fire. Running non-certified Vista software to try and repair the Windows registry is asking for trouble.

    3. What Registry Fix Software Won't Fix

If you need to change file associations and doing this through the Windows interface doesn't seem to work (a common problem I have noticed with Windows Vista), running a registry scan and clean is not going to help you. This is a situation that calls for using REGEDIT. If you are wary of using REGEDIT, you can find plenty of tutorials on the web.

In short, before using Windows registry repair software, ensure you really should be doing it.

  • Submit Virus Samples To 17 Different Scanning Engines

VirusTotal is the place to go when you encounter a suspicious program and want to see whether it's malicious. Upload the program to VirusTotal's servers and they will scan it with a large collection of scanners, 17 of them as I am counting:

    • AntiVir 6.30.0.7
    • AVG 718
    • BitDefender 7.0
    • ClamAV devel-20050307
    • DrWeb 4.32b
    • eTrust-Iris 7.1.194.0
    • eTrust-Vet 11.7.0.0
    • Fortienet 2.51
    • F-Prot 3.16a
    • Ikarus 2.32
    • Kaspersky 4.0.2.24
    • McAfee 4451
    • NOD32v2 1.1030
    • Norman 5.70.10
    • Panda 8.02.00
    • Sybari 7.5.1314
    • Symantec 8.0

You can also attach a file to an e-mail message and send it to scan@virustotal.com with the word SCAN as the subject line. You will receive an e-mail report of the scan.

VirusTotal will send the samples on to antivirus companies, so you can help get protection out to others more broadly and quickly. Or if you don't want to distribute the file to antivirus vendors, use the e-mail route with SCAN- as the subject line.
